What to Know Before You Buy a 2026 Ram 1500

The big news on the 2026 Ram 1500 is that the HEMI® V8 is back. After a year away, the 5.7L HEMI returns as an available engine on select models, making 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque with maximum towing of 11,320 pounds. If you sat out the last model year because the V8 was gone, this is the year to look again.

The engines do not form a simple ladder, and this is the single most useful thing to know before you shop one. The V6 carries the most in the bed and tows the least. The standard Hurricane tows the most. The High-Output makes the most power but tows less than the engine below it. The most expensive engine is not the best towing engine. The full figures are in the table further down. Spec the truck for the job. [2]

The suspension is a real differentiator. Ram is the only half-ton using a coil-spring rear suspension as standard, with a class-exclusive Active-Level™ Four-Corner Air Suspension available on Crew Cab models. On a truck that runs empty on US-29 or MD-32 five days a week and works on the weekend, that is something you feel daily rather than a number you read once.

For Howard County, the Ram 1500 covers two very different buyers. Contractors and businesses working the Columbia and Ellicott City corridors, and the farms and acreage out toward Glenelg, Woodbine and Highland. The right truck for each is a different configuration, and that is worth ten minutes of conversation before you pick a trim.

Two things the table makes clear. The High-Output Hurricane makes 120 more horsepower than the standard Hurricane and tows 1,610 pounds less, so if towing is why you are buying the truck, the cheaper engine is the right one. And payload and towing pull in opposite directions: if your load lives in the bed rather than behind the hitch, the V6 deserves a longer look than most shoppers give it.

Bring us your trailer weight and your typical bed load and we will match a configuration to both, rather than starting from a trim and hoping the numbers work out.

Which Engine Should You Pick?

The numbers are in the table above. What the table does not tell you is the character.

The Pentastar® V6 is the cheapest to buy and to run, and it is the payload leader. The 3.0L Hurricane is the one to spec if you tow, and it is standard on the Rebel®. The 5.7L HEMI® V8 is back for 2026 on select models, and it gives up almost nothing in towing, so buy it because you want a V8 and the sound that comes with it. That is a perfectly good reason. The High-Output Hurricane is standard on Tungsten and is about outright speed rather than work.

An eight-speed automatic is standard across the lineup. Not sure which way to go? Tell our Clarksville team what you tow and what you haul, and we will point you at one of them.

2026 Ram 1500 towing a trailer

Interior and Towing Technology

The interior is one of the strongest arguments for this truck, with over 50 inches of combined available digital displays and, on Tungsten, 24-way power-adjustable front seats with heat, ventilation, memory and massage.

The part worth your time on a test drive is the trailering technology. Ram offers more of it on the 2026 1500 than on any previous Ram 1500, and it is the difference between backing a trailer easily and not. If you tow, hitch something up before you sign. That is a request we get often and are happy to accommodate. [4]

America 250th Anniversary Edition

New for 2026 and limited, on Big Horn®, Laramie® and Rebel®. It adds exclusive decals and badges, a choice of Molten Red, Bright White or Hydro Blue, a sport performance hood with painted black bumpers and wheel flares, and red seat belts with red, white and blue interior stitching. Big Horn models get Denim Soul fabric seats; Laramie and Rebel get leather-trimmed performance seats with blue inserts. A Mopar® spray-in bedliner is included.

Allocation on these is limited, which means they tend to be spoken for before they reach the lot. If this is the truck you want, call us rather than waiting to see one in inventory.

2026 Ram 1500 Trim Levels

Read these prices as a floor, not a spec. Each is the lowest-cost configuration Ram offers on that trim, noted under the figure. Most of these trims are also available with 4x4, a different cab and a different box; a Tradesman® Crew Cab 4x4 is entirely orderable, it just costs more than the $42,025 headline.

It also means the ladder is not like-for-like: the bottom three trims are quoted as Quad Cab® 4x2 and most above them as Crew Cab 4x4, so part of the gap is cab and drivetrain rather than trim content. Ask us to price the configuration you actually want. [1]

Which 2026 Ram 1500 Is Right for You?

Trim matters less on a Ram 1500 than engine, cab and axle. Work through it in that order.

Start with the load. Towing near the top of the range points at the standard 3.0L Hurricane at 11,610 pounds. Hauling heavy in the bed instead points at the Pentastar® V6, which carries 430 more pounds than the Hurricane and 870 more than the High Output. Wanting a V8 is its own reason, and at 11,320 pounds the HEMI® costs you very little towing to choose it.

Then the cab. Crew Cab has the back seat families and crews actually use, and it is the only cab that can be ordered with the four-corner air suspension. Quad Cab® works if the rear seat is occasional. Regular Cab is a work-truck decision.

Then the trim.Tradesman® and Express are work trucks. Big Horn® is where the useful equipment starts and where most buyers should begin. Laramie® is the comfort step and the one most daily drivers end up in. Rebel® is the off-road answer and RHO is the serious version of it. Limited, Longhorn® and Tungsten are about material and finish rather than capability.

Bring your trailer weight, your typical load and your budget to our Clarksville showroom and we will spec it with you.

Ram Trucks for Howard County Businesses

A good share of the trucks we sell go to work rather than to a driveway. Contractors, landscapers, trades and small businesses working the Columbia and Ellicott City corridors, and farms out toward Glenelg, Woodbine and West Friendship.

If you are buying a truck for a business rather than for yourself, a few things change. The Tradesman® and Express exist specifically for that use and are priced accordingly. The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 carries the most payload in the lineup at 2,360 pounds, which matters more than towing for a lot of trade work. And Ram Professional offers business programs, upfit options and commercial financing that a retail purchase does not touch.

Talk to our Clarksville team about business purchases before you shop a retail listing. The right answer for a company truck is often a different configuration, and sometimes a different trim, than the one a retail buyer would choose.

2026 Ram 1500 FAQs

How much does the 2026 Ram 1500 cost?

The 2026 Ram 1500 starts at $42,025 MSRP for the Tradesman Quad Cab 4x2. The Express starts at $44,445, Big Horn at $47,575, Warlock at $52,865, Laramie at $61,775, Rebel at $65,345, RHO at $74,090, Limited at $76,700, Limited Longhorn at $77,895 and Tungsten at $89,095. Each figure is the lowest-cost configuration on that trim rather than the only one available. Tradesman, Express and Big Horn are priced from Quad Cab 4x2 trucks and most trims above them from Crew Cab 4x4, so part of the gap between them is cab and drivetrain rather than trim content. Adding 4x4 or a Crew Cab to a lower trim raises its price above the figure shown, and yes, the Tradesman, Express and Big Horn are all available with 4x4 and a Crew Cab. All figures exclude taxes, title, registration fees and the $2,795 destination charge. [1]

What are the 2026 Ram 1500 trim levels?

The 2026 Ram 1500 is offered in Tradesman, Express, Big Horn and Lone Star, Warlock, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Limited Longhorn, RHO and Tungsten. Ram also offers the 1500 Rumble Bee and the supercharged TRX SRT in limited numbers.

How much can the 2026 Ram 1500 tow?

Maximum available towing is 11,610 pounds with the 3.0L Hurricane inline-six when properly equipped. The 5.7L HEMI V8 tows up to 11,320 pounds, the High-Output Hurricane up to 10,000 pounds and the 3.6L Pentastar V6 up to 8,130 pounds. Note that the more powerful High-Output Hurricane tows 1,610 pounds less than the standard Hurricane, so the most expensive engine is not the best towing engine in this lineup. Actual capacity varies by cab, bed, axle ratio and equipment. [2]

Does the 2026 Ram 1500 have a HEMI V8?

Yes. The 5.7L HEMI V8 returns for 2026 and is newly available on select Ram 1500 models, rated at 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque with maximum towing of 11,320 pounds.

What engines are available in the 2026 Ram 1500?

Four: the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque (305 hp), the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six (420 hp), the High-Output 3.0L Hurricane (540 hp) and the newly available 5.7L HEMI V8 (395 hp). All use an eight-speed automatic.

How much payload can the 2026 Ram 1500 carry?

Up to 2,360 pounds with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque, which is the highest payload rating in the lineup. The 3.0L Hurricane carries up to 1,930 pounds and the High-Output Hurricane up to 1,490 pounds. [2]

Does the 2026 Ram 1500 have air suspension?

Yes. A class-exclusive Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension System is available on Crew Cab models. It automatically lowers the truck to reduce drag and improve efficiency, and can be raised for clearance or lowered for easier loading. Every Ram 1500 also uses a coil-spring rear suspension as standard, which is unique among half-ton trucks.

What is the America 250th Anniversary Edition Ram 1500?

It is a limited-production 2026 appearance package available on Big Horn, Laramie and Rebel models. It adds exclusive decals and badges, a choice of Molten Red, Bright White or Hydro Blue paint, a sport performance hood, painted black bumpers and wheel flares, red seat belts with red, white and blue interior stitching, unique seating and a Mopar spray-in bedliner. Units are limited.

What is the warranty on the 2026 Ram 1500?

Select 2026 Ram trucks and vans carry a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, which Ram states is America's best full-size truck powertrain limited warranty. Coverage is non-transferable. See dealer for complete details. [5]

How far is Ourisman CDJR of Clarksville from Columbia or Ellicott City?

We are on Auto Drive off Route 108 in Clarksville, under 10 minutes from Columbia and 15 to 20 minutes from Ellicott City. Laurel is 20 to 25 minutes, and we are a short drive from Route 32, US-29 and I-70. For most of Howard County we are closer than the Baltimore or Beltway dealers.

Can a Ram 1500 tow a boat to the Chesapeake?

Yes, comfortably for most boats. Properly equipped with the 3.0L Hurricane, the 2026 Ram 1500 tows up to 11,610 pounds, and the 5.7L HEMI V8 tows up to 11,320 pounds. A typical 20 to 24 foot boat and trailer runs well under those figures. What matters as much as the number is the trailering equipment, so tell us the boat and trailer weight and we will spec the axle and tow group to match. [2]

Do you sell Ram trucks to Howard County businesses?

Yes. A significant share of our truck business is commercial, from contractors and trades working the Columbia and Ellicott City corridors to farms out toward Glenelg and Woodbine. The Tradesman and Express are built for that use, and Ram Professional offers business programs, upfit options and commercial financing that a retail purchase does not include. Contact our Clarksville team about a business purchase before shopping retail listings.
